Koya Ryujin Skyline

The Koya Ryujin Skyline is a 42.7 km long road connecting Koya-san, the head temple of the Shingon sect of Buddhism, and Ryujin, Tanabe City, famous for its hot springs of beauty. It used to be a toll road, but was opened to the public free of charge in 2003, and is now part of Route 371. With an elevation difference of 800 meters, the road has a variety of curves and ups and downs, making it a popular driving and touring course, especially during the autumn foliage season when it is crowded with many cars.

Koyasan

Koyasan was established by Kukai in 816 as a place for Zen practice. Koyasan, the head temple of the Shingon sect of Buddhism, was built in the basin surrounded by mountains, and has been worshipped as a holy place to this day. In addition to visiting the temples, visitors can stay in lodgings to experience ascetic practices, taste vegetarian cuisine, and have other valuable experiences.
