Hampi
The village of Hampi, with its impressive landscape of strange rocks surrounding the Tungabhadra River, was the capital of the Vijayanagara Empire that ruled South India from the 14th to the 16th century. The village is dotted with a wide range of magnificent urban ruins that still retain the traces of that glory, and is always crowded with people as a major tourist destination where you can see many buildings that are the best of the technology of that time.
