Kamo River

The Kamo River, a first-class river, has its source at Mount Sajikigatake in northern Kyoto and stretches about 31 kilometers before joining the Katsura River in Fushimi. The Kamo River is blessed with nature and is inhabited by the giant salamander, a natural monument. The river, which passes through the city but is still lush and pleasant, has been loved by the people of Kyoto.

Shimogamo

Shimogamo Shrine has a long history, with records dating back to 90 AD. Many people come here every day to seek the blessings of marriage and childbirth. The ancient primeval forest of Tadasu, the Kamo River and the Takano River that flow across the shrine, and other soothing scenery make it a spot of healing.
