Taketomi Island, Okinawa, Japan
The village of Taketomi Island
The village of Taketomi Island gives us a sense of the quiet and calm old Okinawa. The village has been preserved and maintained with respect for tradition, maintaining the unchanged scenery of red roofs and stone walls. A leisurely stroll along the white sandy pathways of the village, where bougainvillea is in full bloom, will give you a glimpse of the Ryukyu lifestyle that has continued since ancient times.
Taketomi Island
Taketomi Island, one of the Yaeyama Islands, is a small island about 9 km in circumference. There are no tall buildings on the island, and the rows of houses with Ryukyu tile roofs and white sandy paths, which have been preserved by the residents, give us a sense of good old Okinawa. The white sandy beach surrounded by coral reefs and emerald green sea is truly a paradise.
