Palmenhaus at Schönbrunn Palace

Near the northwestern edge of the garden that stretches in front of Schönbrunn Palace stands the elegant Palmenhaus, made of iron and glass. It was built in 1882 under Emperor Franz Joseph I of Austria as a greenhouse to store plants collected from all over the world. Today, the Palmenhaus is open to the public throughout the year, and visitors can walk through the high ceilings and enjoy the pleasant light while taking their time to appreciate the various plants.
