Wien River
The Wien River is a 34 km long river that originates in the mountains in the western part of the Vienna Woods and flows into the Donaukanal within the city of Vienna. In the center of the city, the river flows underground and its presence is not often noticed. However, there is the Stadtpark near the mouth of the river and a promenade along part of the above-ground riverbank, where visitors can enjoy a leisurely stroll as they watch the river gently flow between concrete banks.
Ringstrasse and Old Town
From the 10th to the 19th century, the center of Vienna was surrounded by a defensive city wall, and the Ringstrasse (Ring Road) was built on the site of the wall after it was torn down in 1858. Along the Ring, lined with gorgeous buildings such as the Parliament Building and the Opera House, symbols of a modern city, together with the cityscape from the days of the royal city that stretches inside the Ring, it is a major tourist attraction filled with the beauty of Vienna.
