Sultan Ahmet Mosque

The Sultan Ahmet Mosque was built by the 14th Sultan of the Ottoman Empire, Sultan Ahmet I, over a period of seven years starting in 1609. Its magnificent architecture, consisting of five main domes and six minarets (spires), has been called the most beautiful mosque in the world, and it has become one of the most popular tourist attractions in Istanbul, despite being an active mosque that attracts devout worshippers.
