Imilchil
Imilchil is a small village located at an altitude of 2,120 meters in the valley of the rugged mountains of the High Atlas. It is also the center of a rural community consisting of many villages scattered around the area, and its souk (market) is filled with a lively atmosphere. It is well known for its traditional engagement festival called Mawsim, which attracts many tourists from all over Morocco and Europe during the annual festival held in September.
High Atlas
The High Atlas is a major mountain range that crosses Morocco, from the Atlantic Ocean in the west to the Algerian border in the east. Bordered by the mountains, ancient cities flourish in the north, and a world of deserts and oases spreads out in the south. As you move eastward from the western alpine zone, where Mount Toubkal, the highest peak at 4,167 meters above sea level, is located, the forest diminishes and the dry rocky desert spreads out. The beautiful valleys and Berber villages that emerge from the rugged nature are full of attractions, and the drive from the city through the mountains to the desert is very popular.
