Kyoto Botanical Garden
The Kyoto Botanical Garden was opened in 1924 as Japan's first public botanical garden. The vast garden is divided into about 20 areas according to themes, with more than 10,000 species and about 120,000 plants planted. You can experience a wide variety of spaces as you walk around, including a Western-style area with a rose garden, and a Japanese-style area with a plum grove and Japanese maple.
Kitayama Dori
Along Kitayama Dori, which runs east-west about 5 km north of the center of Kyoto, modern boutiques and restaurants line the street, creating a modern landscape that is distinctly different from the so-called Kyoto style. After walking around bakeries and cafes along the street, where the trees shine against the blue sky, you can relax and enjoy the lush greenery of the Kyoto Botanical Garden and Takaragaike Park.
