Salzburg Old City Hall
Walking east along Getreidegasse, a bustling street in Salzburg's historic district, you will see a Rococo-style clock tower. The building housing the tower has served as the city hall since the 15th century. In 1947, the main administrative functions, including the city council and mayor's office, moved to Mirabell Palace, ending its role as the city hall. However, this historic building has been preserved and repurposed for multiple uses, including parts open to the public as galleries.
Salzburg
Salzburg, capital city of a state at central Austria, is located near the border with Germany. As its name "Salt Castle" implies, the city has prospered and grown wealthy through trade in the rock salt produced in the area. The old town, which retains its medieval atmosphere, is full of sights, including Hohensalzburg Fortress on top of a hill. The city is also famous as the birthplace of Mozart, and the annual summer music festival attracts classical music fans from all over the world.
