Mount Kaimon
Located at the southern tip of the Satsuma Peninsula, Mount Kaimon is an independent peak that rises in a splendid conical shape. It is a 924-meter-high volcano designated as one of the 100 most famous mountains in Japan, and is also known as "Satsuma Fuji" because of its shape. Climbing to the summit of the mountain, which offers a spectacular view, is popular throughout the year. The unobstructed view of the mountain can be seen from various places on the peninsula, and visitors can enjoy the collaboration of various landscapes such as the surrounding sea, lakes, rape blossom fields, and tea plantations.
Ibusuki, Nansatsu
Nansatsu, located at the southern tip of the Satsuma Peninsula, is blessed with a mild climate and an abundance of nature in the mountains and the sea. The area is full of sights to see, such as the beautiful cone-shaped Mt. Kaimon and Ibusuki famous for unique sand steam baths, the scenic rias coastline, and samurai residences that retain the atmosphere of Edo period (1603-1868).
