Mahabodhi Temple

The Mahabodhi Temple in Bodh Gaya is a Buddhist temple built on the site where the Buddha is said to have attained enlightenment. The 52-meter-high brick tower stands right next to the Bodhi tree where the Buddha meditated, welcoming devotees from all over the world with its solemn atmosphere. The temple, which preserves ancient architectural styles and Buddhist art, including the Diamond throne, built in the 3rd century B.C., has been inscribed as a World Heritage site, and its value has been passed down through the generations.

In winter, when the pilgrimage season is in full swing, the temples are crowded with people waiting in line and many souvenir shops are open.
