Mahabodhi Temple
The Mahabodhi Temple in Bodh Gaya is a Buddhist temple built on the site where the Buddha is said to have attained enlightenment. The 52-meter-high brick tower stands right next to the Bodhi tree where the Buddha meditated, welcoming devotees from all over the world with its solemn atmosphere. The temple, which preserves ancient architectural styles and Buddhist art, including the Diamond throne, built in the 3rd century B.C., has been inscribed as a World Heritage site, and its value has been passed down through the generations.
Bodh Gaya
Bodh Gaya is one of the four holy places where the founder of Buddhism, Buddha, attained enlightenment. Centering on the Mahabodhi Temple with its 52-meter-high stupa and the Bodhi tree where the Buddha meditated, there are Buddhist temples from around the world, Sujata where the village girl who gave milk porridge to the Buddha lived, and other sights that are unique to the holy land of Buddhism. In winter, when the pilgrimage season is in full swing, the temples are crowded with people waiting in line and many souvenir shops are open.
