Yoshiminedera Temple
Yoshiminedera Temple is located on the mountainside of Yoshimine, a branch of Shakadake in the Nishiyama mountain range. The temple is famous for its autumn foliage, but it is also decorated with a variety of flowers throughout the four seasons, including cherry blossoms, azaleas, and hydrangeas. Another highlight of the temple is the panoramic view of the mountains and the city from the temple grounds, which are over 300 meters above sea level. As you walk around the spacious temple grounds, you can enjoy the stunning contrast between the hall, surrounding trees and flowers, and the distant view.
Nishiyama, Kyoto
Surrounded by mountains on three sides, Kyoto calls each mountain "Higashiyama," "Kitayama," or "Nishiyama" according to the direction from the city. Nishiyama is one of these three, and is home to seasonal flowering spots and ancient temples with deep histories, as well as many hidden spots where you can encounter the quaint beauty of Kyoto. Among them, hiking through the three main Nishiyama temples, including Yoshimine-dera Temple nestled in the mountains of the Nishiyama mountain range, and the Nishiyama Old Road that connects them, is gaining popularity.
