Bahariya Oasis
The desert region stretching west of the Nile River is dotted with a number of oases where civilizations have flourished since the distant past. One of these, the Bahariya Oasis, is a vast oasis of lush greenery of date palms and mangoes covering an area of approximately 2,000 square kilometers. In addition to the many ancient ruins, the oasis serves as a base for many visitors to explore the nearby Black Desert, White Desert, and Crystal Mountains.
Western Desert
Of the desert areas that cover approximately 90% of Egypt's land area, the vast desert west of the Nile River is known as the Western Desert. Hidden in the world of rocks and sand as far as the eye can see are the magnificent landscapes of the Black Desert and White Desert, known for their unique topography. At some oases, which have flourished as trading cities since ancient times and retain ruins from various periods, visitors can enjoy a peaceful moment surrounded by date palms and olive trees.
