Church of San Giorgio dei Greci
The Church of San Giorgio dei Greci in the Castello district of Venice is one of the most important Orthodox churches in Italy. It was designed by Sante Lombardo and construction began in 1573. The bell tower, which had been leaning due to land subsidence since construction, is still standing more than 400 years after it was completed, and the view of it together with the Rio dei Greci has become a local specialty.
Venice
Venice is a water city built on a lagoon on the Adriatic Sea. Cars and bicycles are not allowed in the city, and boats are the only means of transportation. A leisurely gondola ride through the canals while admiring the Renaissance and Gothic mansions is a standard part of any trip to Venice. The maze of alleys, historic bridges over canals, and other beautiful sights unique to a city on the water attract people from all over the world.
