Abusir pyramid complex
Abshir is located west of the Nile River and is known for its necropolis (cemetery) of the Old Kingdom of Egypt. The tombs of the kings of the 5th Dynasty from 2498 to 2345 B.C. were mainly built here, and there are 14 pyramids in total. Although the site has not been developed as a tourist attraction, valuable discoveries continue to be made, including administrative documents and funerary vessels from the Old Kingdom period, and excavation work continues to this day.
Memphis and its Necropolis
Memphis, the capital of the Old Kingdom of Egypt, is located on the banks of the majestic Nile River. Around Memphis are a cluster of pyramids, the cemeteries of kings, stretching approximately 30 kilometers from north to south. The pyramids, built over a period of about 500 years from the 27th century B.C., vary in size and state of preservation, and offer visitors a glimpse of a great civilization that swept the world in the distant past.
