Koya Otaki Falls

Koya Otaki Falls is a large waterfall on the Odono River, which collects water from Mount Koya. The waterfall has a drop of 15 meters and the highlight is the beautiful sight of the waterfall flowing down from the upper stream in the midst of trees. Especially during the season of autumn leaves, the surrounding trees turn red and yellow, enhancing the beauty of the waterfall even more. In winter, the entire area is covered with snow, creating a scene like an ink painting.

Kohechi, Kumano Kodo

The Kumano Kodo is a pilgrimage route leading to Kumano, which has flourished as the largest sacred site in Japan since the Middle Ages. One of them, Kohechi, is a 70-km route that connects Koyasan, the head temple of the Shingon sect of Buddhism, and Kumano Hongu Taisha Shrine, crossing over 1,000-meter mountains in the Kii Mountain Range. Originally a way of life for the locals, the Kohechi has been used as a pilgrimage route for the common people since the early modern era, and many travelogues have described the route.
