Hanazono Hydrangea Garden
The Hanazono Hydrangea Garden, located along the Koya Ryujin Skyline in Katsuragi Town, Wakayama Prefecture, has about 3,500 hydrangeas planted along the slopes of the mountain, which are at their best from July to August every year. In addition to hydrangeas, about 1,000 rhododendrons bloom in the spring, and the entire skyline is colored with autumn leaves in the fall, making the beauty of the garden change with the seasons.
Koyasan
Koyasan was established by Kukai in 816 as a place for Zen practice. Koyasan, the head temple of the Shingon sect of Buddhism, was built in the basin surrounded by mountains, and has been worshipped as a holy place to this day. In addition to visiting the temples, visitors can stay in lodgings to experience ascetic practices, taste vegetarian cuisine, and have other valuable experiences.
