Kagoshima

Kagoshima is the central city of southern Kyushu, located on the Satsuma Peninsula. The symbol of the city is Sakurajima, which rises majestically out of Kinko Bay. Kagoshima is packed with historical attractions, including historic sites associated with the key figures of the Meiji Restoration and traditional crafts that have been passed down through the generations in the domain of the Shimazu clan. The wide variety of local cuisine using kurobuta pork and kibinago fish, as well as ramen and shirokuma (a type of ice cream), also add to the appeal of a trip to Kagoshima.
