Toyama, Japan
Asahi Funagawa “Spring Quartet”
In Asahimachi, Toyama Prefecture's easternmost town, the Asahi Funagawa “Spring Quartet” heralds the arrival of spring. Against the backdrop of the snow-capped Northern Alps, the cherry trees along Funakawa burst into full bloom, while fields nearby flourish with yellow rapeseed flowers and colorful tulips. This picturesque scene, created by these four elements, has become well-known, attracting many visitors during the brief event period each year.
Kurobe, Unazuki Onsen
Unazuki Onsen, one of the largest hot springs in Toyama, is a charming hot spring town located along the Kurobe River. It is also the starting point for the trolley train that travels to Japan's deepest ravine, the Kurobe Gorge, attracting travelers seeking the majestic views of mountains and valleys. Meanwhile, downstream of the Kurobe River, the city area and farmlands spread across an alluvial fan, where visitors can enjoy a wealth of local gourmet foods, including fresh seafood from Toyama Bay and products made with the region's famed water.
