Zhangshan Temple
Perched in the hills of Maokong, Taipei, Zhangshan Temple is a Buddhist temple founded in 1933. Its principal image is a statue of Guanyin with nine arms on each side. Though modest in size, the temple’s elegant hall stands prominently on the mountainside and has become one of the area's best-known landmarks. It also sits at the junction of several popular hiking trails, making it a welcome resting place for hikers exploring the surrounding hills.
Maokong
Maokong is a scenic area in southern Taipei, where tea plantations spread across the lush hillsides. It is best known as the home of Muzha Tieguanyin, one of Taiwan’s most celebrated teas. Visitors can stroll along trails that wind through the tea fields while enjoying views of the city below, then relax at a traditional teahouse or a restaurant serving tea-infused cuisine. With a gondola ride of about 30 minutes from the station at the foot of the mountain, Maokong is also a popular destination for an easy day trip from Taipei.
