Fukushima, Japan
Tsubakuro Valley
On the 29-km-long Bandai-Azuma Skyline, which runs from Takayu Onsen in Fukushima City to Tsuchiyu Pass, there is Tsubakuro Valley, known for its beautiful autumn leaves. The valley, carved deep into the mountains of the Azuma mountain range, was named after the Asian house martins that used to fly over it. From the Fudosawa Bridge that spans the valley, you can see the beautiful trees on the mountain surface and even the distant view of the Fukushima Basin.
Mount Bandai Area
Mount Bandai, the symbol of Fukushima, is an eye-catching, graceful mountain. It is surrounded by beautiful scenery, including the vast Lake Inawashiro and a variety of lakes and marshes created by the eruptions of the Meiji era (1868-1912). The plateau known as Urabandai is a major resort area where you can fully enjoy the rich nature. Many people come here to enjoy activities such as canoeing and kayaking in summer and skiing in winter.
