Stanford University Arboretum
Stanford University, one of the nation's leading universities, is located in the heart of Silicon Valley. Covering part of its expansive campus is the Stanford University Arboretum, where towering trees rise above wide lawns. Although it no longer features the more than 350 tree species that once grew here, it remains a peaceful green oasis. Walking along its shaded paths, visitors can see a variety of trees, including oaks, live oaks, cedars, and eucalyptus.
Silicon Valley
The area from San Jose to San Mateo on the San Francisco Bay is commonly known as Silicon Valley. It is named after silicon, a semiconductor material, after the many semiconductor companies that were established in the 1960s. The area has been the starting point for innovative technologies that have changed the world, with giant companies such as Apple, Google, and Intel setting up their headquarters here, making it the dream destination for IT technologists and young entrepreneurs.
