Shiretoko
Shiretoko is a mountainous peninsula jutting out from the southern tip of the Sea of Okhotsk. The pristine nature here is home to a wide variety of animals, including brown bears, red foxes, whales, Steller's sea lions, Steller's sea eagles, and Blakiston's fish owls. The Shiretoko mountain range bisects the peninsula, with Rausu in the east and Utoro in the west serving as a base for travel. Visitors can fully enjoy the charms of this magnificent natural environment by driving around the numerous waterfalls, lakes, and capes, taking a cruise to view the peninsula from the sea, or taking an eco-tour to observe rare species.
