Meiringen is a town at the foot of the Alps, located halfway between Lucerne and Interlaken on the railroad connecting the two cities. Surrounded by several mountain passes, such as the Susten Pass and the Grimsel Pass, Meiringen has prospered as a trading center since ancient times.
