Kodaiji Temple
Kodaiji Temple was built by Hideyoshi Toyotomi's wife, Kitanomandokoro, to pray for the repose of the soul of Hideyoshi, who died in 1598. The highlight of the temple is the many buildings designated as important cultural properties, and the garden with a corridor and a hill built around a pond. The seasonal flowers, such as weeping cherry blossoms, azaleas, and bush clovers, are magnificent, and the temple is a tourist attraction that attracts many visitors, especially during the season of autumn leaves.
Gion and Kiyomizu
Kiyomizu Temple, known for its "Kiyomizu-no-butai" (stage of Kiyomizu), and Gion, famous for its maiko (apprentice geisha). The area connecting these two world-famous tourist spots is full of attractions such as Kodaiji Temple, Yasaka Shrine, and Sannenzaka. The Kyoto-style streets are always crowded with kimono-clad tourists.
