Grand Canal

The Grand Canal bisects the city of Venice. It is about 3.8 km long and meanders in an S-shape. The Grand Canal, where many gondolas and vaporetto (water buses) come and go, is the main street of Venice. The various styles of architecture along the canals form a graceful landscape that reminds us of the prosperity of Venice since the Middle Ages.

Venice is a water city built on a lagoon on the Adriatic Sea. Cars and bicycles are not allowed in the city, and boats are the only means of transportation.
