La Paz

La Paz, the de facto capital of Bolivia, is known as the highest capital city in the world at 3,600 meters above sea level. The unique cityscape is impressive, with high-rise buildings rising at the bottom of the mortar-shaped terrain and rustic houses made of sun-dried bricks increasing as one rises to the rim. A typical way to spend a day in the city is to take in the panoramic view of the city from a high observatory or tour the historic colonial buildings that remain in the center of the city.
