Piraeus
Piraeus is a port city that has spun its history from the distant past as the outer port of Athens. In ancient times, Piraeus played an important role as a military port, and in the 5th century BC, walls were built on both sides of the road leading to Athens, about 10 km away. Today, Piraeus flourishes as a commercial port and is a familiar city for travelers as the gateway to the Aegean Sea.
