Portugal is a republic located at the western tip of the Iberian Peninsula, bordering the Atlantic Ocean to the west and south and Spain to the north and east. There are many cities popular among tourists, including the charming and somewhat nostalgic capital Lisbon, the historical city of Porto along the Douro River, and Sintra with its unique architecture. The country is also blessed with beautiful resorts such as the Algarve coastline. The maritime nation's rich seafood cuisine, specialty wines, and melancholy folk songs such as Fado are also appealing.
