Facing the fjord strait in the southeastern part of Tromsøya, the port of Tromsø is where numerous ships arrive and depart daily. It is the sea gateway to Tromsø, the central city of northern Norway. The harbor, with its commanding view of the mainland on the other side of the strait, is located in the center of the city and offers excellent access to tourist attractions. Ships carrying tourists come and go, ranging from large cruise ships cruising along the Norwegian coast to tour boats for viewing the northern lights, whales, and orcas.
Tromsø
Tromsø, the central city of northern Norway, is located in an intricate fjord and consists of the mainland and several islands. The city has flourished as a base for Arctic exploration and as a fishing base due to its relatively mild climate despite its location in the Arctic Circle, and boasts such beauty and rich culture that it has been called the "Paris of the North”. Tromsø is also famous as a place to observe the northern lights. Every year, many visitors come to Tromsø to see the fantastic aurora borealis shimmering above the city like a sea of light.
