Shimen Jingang Palace
Shimen Jingang Palace is a unique temple that enshrines hundreds of statues and sacred figures from Taoism and several other religious traditions. Spread across multiple buildings and divided into six sections, the temple is filled with statues of all sizes. Alongside its many religious icons are unusual figures and spaces recreating scenes of heaven and hell, giving the temple an atmosphere that is both sacred and surprisingly entertaining. As a result, it has become a popular destination for visitors.
Shimen
Shimen District lies at the northernmost tip of New Taipei City, surrounded by both mountains and the sea. It is an ideal destination for those looking to escape the city and enjoy nature just beyond Taipei. The coastline is especially rich in attractions, including Baishawan, a striking white beach formed from crushed shells, Fugui Cape Lighthouse at Taiwan’s northernmost point, and Shimen Arch, a natural rock arch carved by centuries of wave erosion. Many of these scenic spots can be easily explored by bus, making Shimen a rewarding destination for a day trip.
