Ring Road

Iceland is a land of glaciers and lava deserts inland, with towns and villages scattered along the coast. National Route 1, also known as the Ring Road, circles Iceland, connecting these coastal towns. East Fjords of Iceland

The eastern coast of Iceland is formed by intricate fjords. The interior is a mountainous region that has long since ceased to be volcanically active, and the beautiful ridges of the mountains are a characteristic feature of the region. Far from Reykjavik, the town of Egilsstaðir is a good base from which to explore the fjord's small villages, mountains, waterfalls, lakes and other natural wonders.
