Madurai
Madurai is one of the central cities of the Tamil region in southern India. It is an ancient city that flourished as the capital of the Pandya dynasty in ancient times and has developed under several empires and dynasties. During the Nayaka dynasty in the 16th century, the Hindu Meenakshi Temple was built in the center of the city, establishing Madurai as one of the most sacred places in South India. The streets are never empty, even at night, and the city is also known as “the sleepless city”.
