Church of San Giorgio Maggiore
The Church of San Giorgio Maggiore can be seen across the Canal San Marco when viewed from the small square of San Marco in Venice. The church is built so close to the island that you can hardly see the land, so it appears to float above the canal. This beautiful church, called the "Lady of the Waters", is close to the main island of Venice and is a popular spot for many tourists.
Venice
Venice is a water city built on a lagoon on the Adriatic Sea. Cars and bicycles are not allowed in the city, and boats are the only means of transportation. A leisurely gondola ride through the canals while admiring the Renaissance and Gothic mansions is a standard part of any trip to Venice. The maze of alleys, historic bridges over canals, and other beautiful sights unique to a city on the water attract people from all over the world.
