Mount Asahi
Mount Asahi is the highest mountain in Hokkaido at 2,191 meters above sea level. The contrast between the rugged power of the mountain's summit, with its billowing smoke, and the hillside, with its alpine flora and fauna surrounding a pond formed by the accumulation of water in an old crater, accentuates the beauty of the entire mountain. The ropeway is popular for its easy access from the foot of the mountain to the hillside, and is crowded with climbers and hikers all year round.
Daisetsuzan National Park
Daisetsuzan National Park is home to a series of 2,000-meter-high mountains, led by Asahidake, the highest mountain in Hokkaido. The park is home to about 250 species of alpine plants, and in the summer the colorful flowers are a delight to the eyes of visitors. Visitors can enjoy the magnificent nature by trekking through beautiful mountains, valleys, lakes and other scenic spots, and soaking in hot springs produced by active volcanoes.
