Kangchenjunga
Kangchenjunga is the third highest mountain in the world at 8,586 meters above sea level, rising on the border between Nepal and India. The sacred mountain, which has been worshipped by people since ancient times, is home to a diverse range of nature, from forests to glaciers. Although even experienced climbers must be prepared for the challenge of reaching the summit, many trekking tours are available to approach the foot of the mountain and get a close-up view of its majestic appearance. Various scenic spots around the region are also popular and easily accessible.
Pelling
Pelling in West Sikkim, about 135 km from the state capital of Gangtok, is a resort town overlooking the majestic Kangchenjunga. Located at an altitude of 2,150 meters above sea level, many hotels line the cool mountain slopes. While Pelling is a busy base for trekking to enjoy the spectacular nature, the surrounding area is also full of tourist attractions. In addition to waterfalls and lakes, visitors can also enjoy historical and cultural tours such as the ruins of a palace from the Kingdom of Sikkim and a Tibetan Buddhist monastery.
