Miyama’s thatched village

There are many thatched-roof houses still existing in Miyama, and Kitamura, with its 39 thatched houses in the village, is called "Kayabuki no Sato (the thatched village)". It has been selected as an important preservation area for groups of traditional buildings by the national government because of its well-preserved condition and overwhelming beauty. In addition to taking a leisurely stroll in the beautiful village, which is said to be the original landscape of Japanese satoyama, you can also stay in a thatched house to experience the life inside.

Miyama, located in Nantan City, Kyoto Prefecture, is known for its rich nature and beautiful scenery. Thatched-roof houses stand side by side in the deep green satoyama, which is an original Japanese landscape in itself.
