Mt. Takao
Mt. Takao, one of the many peaks in the northern mountains of Kyoto, is famous for Jingo-ji Temple, a famous place for viewing the autumn leaves on its hillside. The area is within an hour's bus ride from Kyoto Station, yet it is a place where you can fully enjoy the beauty of nature. The Kiyotaki River, which flows along the foot of Mt. Takao, is lined with many inns and ryotei (Japanese-style restaurants), providing a place of relaxation for those who come to enjoy the autumn leaves and hiking.
Takao
Takao has been a famous place for autumn leaves since ancient times and has been written about in poetry. You can enjoy the contrast between the colored leaves of the historic temples and shrines, the Kiyotaki River, and the Kitayama cedars in the surrounding forest. It is also a valuable spot where you can enjoy the cool and refreshing atmosphere created by the river and the trees, and where Kawadoko is served in summer.
