Kitano Tenmangu
Kitano Tenmangu is the head shrine of all Tenmangu shrines across Japan, dedicated to Sugawara no Michizane, the deity of learning. Founded in 947, the shrine boasts a rich history, reflected in its magnificent main hall from the Momoyama period (1573-1603) and numerous auxiliary shrines scattered throughout the grounds. Affectionately known as "Tenjin-san" or "Kitano-san," it attracts not only students praying for academic success but also visitors year-round, especially during seasonal events, the plum blossom season, and autumn foliage.
Kinkakuji Temple Area
Kinkakuji Temple is so famous for its golden Shari-den, a representative architecture of the Muromachi period (1336-1573). The "Kinukake Road," a sightseeing road built in front of the temple, leads to Ryoanji Temple and Ninnaji Temple. All you can see from the spacious precincts of each temple are trees. You can forget the hustle and bustle of the city and think about history.
