Goat in Hateruma Island
On Hateruma Island, you can see goats everywhere. There are many cows, but it is impressive that there are so many goats. It is said that there are about 400 goats on the entire island. Some are domesticated and some are wild, and I often see goats tied to the pasture with long strings. Being able to interact with the friendly goats is a unique pleasure of Hateruma Island.
Hateruma Island
Hateruma Island is the southernmost inhabited island in Japan. It is famous for its beautiful "Hateruma Blue" sea and for its star gazing under favorable conditions with little artificial lighting. As you move around the island without traffic lights, you may encounter goats grazing in the fields. This is a fascinating island where you can experience a very slow life.
