Ryuzugataki Falls

In the southwestern part of Unnan City, at the upper reaches of the Takidani River running through the mountains, there is Ryuzugataki Falls, one of the most famous waterfalls in the Chugoku region. There are two waterfalls, a male waterfall and a female waterfall. The male waterfall is a dynamic sight with a drop of about 40 meters, and the female waterfall is a beautiful gorge with a 30-meter drop that divides into several sections. This is a healing spot where you can feel the negative ions from the surrounding trees and the refreshing spray of water.

Unnan

Located in the south of Izumo, Unnan is known as the setting for the legend of Yamata-no-orochi, which appears in the Kojiki. Unnan has prospered through tatara iron manufacturing, an ancient traditional technique using charcoal and iron sand produced from the rich forests and land. There are many places to visit where you can feel the romance of history, such as the streets that still retain the atmosphere of those days and the tatara factory that served as a model for the Ghibli film "Princess Mononoke".
