Trollstigen
Heading south from the town of Åndalsnes on Route 63, you will see a winding road leading from the gorge to the plateau, with 11 hairpin bends on a slope with a gradient of up to 10%, giving it the name "The troll path". The ruggedly beautiful route, with its majestic mountains and cascading waterfalls, is one of Norway's 18 National Tourist Routes and a classic summer travel destination.
Golden Route
Route 63, which leads from Geirangerfjord to the town of Åndalsnes in the north, is called the Golden Route because of its breathtakingly beautiful scenery of narrow inlets, steep cliffs, and cascading waterfalls. In particular, the steep, winding slope of Trollstigen (The troll path) is famous for its steep but spectacular views, and is a popular driving destination during the summer season.
