Brooklyn Bridge

The Brooklyn Bridge straddles the East River and connects Manhattan and Brooklyn. Designed by John Roebling, a German immigrant, and his son Washington, who succeeded him, the 1,834-meter-long suspension bridge was completed in 1883. The bridge has been renovated many times since its completion, but it still retains its beautiful appearance, combining the massiveness of stone construction with the delicacy of wire. The bridge can be crossed on foot, and from the base of the bridge on the Brooklyn side, you can enjoy an impressive view of the skyscrapers.
