Yasaka Pagoda
The Yasaka Pagoda, a symbol of Higashiyama, stands in a town with a historical atmosphere. It is a five-story pagoda with a long history that has stood here since before the capital was built in Kyoto. The beautiful silhouette of the pagoda, which has remained unchanged since ancient times, can be seen from various places in Higashiyama, a city of hills, and is loved by locals and tourists alike as a beautiful scene typical of Kyoto.
Gion and Kiyomizu
Kiyomizu Temple, known for its "Kiyomizu-no-butai" (stage of Kiyomizu), and Gion, famous for its maiko (apprentice geisha). The area connecting these two world-famous tourist spots is full of attractions such as Kodaiji Temple, Yasaka Shrine, and Sannenzaka. The Kyoto-style streets are always crowded with kimono-clad tourists.
