Kongoji Temple

Kongoji Temple stands at the foot of Mt. Amano, where the rich nature of Okukawachi still remains. The temple was founded by Gyoki in the Tenpyo era (710-794) and is said to have been a sacred place where Kobo-Daishi Kukai practiced asceticism. Many valuable cultural assets remain, including the seated statues of Dainichi Nyorai, Fudo Myoo, and Gozanze Myoo in the Kondo Hall, which are national treasures. In spring, cherry blossoms decorate the precincts, and in autumn, the dry landscape garden built in the Muromachi period is beautifully colored with autumn leaves.

Minamikawachi

Stretching across the western foothills of the Kongo Mountains, Minamikawachi is an area with a rich history, where many ancient mausoleums and burial mounds remain, and is closely related to Prince Shotoku of the Asuka Period (592-710). The agricultural and forestry industries are thriving, and the area is crowded with people who come to pick grapes in autumn. The area offers a wide range of travel courses to fully enjoy the unique charms of the area, such as mountain climbing with panoramic views of the metropolis, and driving through the beautiful terraced rice fields in Osaka's only village.
