Rome, Italy
Piazza del Popolo
Piazza del Popolo is a square full of historical charm located in the north of the old city of Rome. In ancient times, it was home to the Flaminian Gate, where pilgrims were checked for identity and allowed to enter Rome only after paying a tax. The obelisk that stands in the middle of the square and the twin churches that stand between the three streets stretching from the square are impressive sights that attract not only pilgrims of the past but also modern tourists.
Rome
Rome, the capital of Italy, is steeped in ancient history. The Colosseum, Roman Forum, and other magnificent ruins dating back 2,000 years can be seen here and there. The post-medieval streets and squares that were built on top of the ancient city are also a must-see for their beauty. Whether you are touring the Trevi Fountain, the Mouth of Truth, Piazza di Spagna, or sampling local delicacies such as carbonara and amatriciana, there is no shortage of things to do in the Eternal City.
