Wakayama, Japan
Oishi Highland
The Oishi Highland is located on the border between Kimino Town and Aridagawa Town in Wakayama Prefecture. The area around the peak of Oishi-ga-mine, which have been burned since long ago, is covered with grasslands, and in autumn the entire surface of the mountain is covered with Japanese pampas grass. When you look out from the fields of golden pampas grass in the sun, you can see the ridges of the Kii Mountains, the shimmering waters of the Kii Channel, and even Tokushima in Shikoku.
Arida
Surrounded by the beautiful sea of the Kii Channel and the deep green mountains of the Kii Mountain Range, Arida is rich in nature and is famous for its oranges. Other specialties include grapes, tomatoes, soy sauce, swordfish, Japanese mitten crab, and many other delicacies from the sea and mountains. Arida is also blessed with sightseeing spots where visitors can enjoy the natural beauty of the four seasons, such as Aragi Island with its characteristic terraced rice paddies, and the fields of cosmos and Japanese pampas grass.
