Minato Kobe Fireworks Festival
The Minato Kobe Fireworks Festival, which started in 1971, has become an established summer event in Kobe. Every year at the beginning of August, about 10,000 fireworks are set off in the sea south of Meriken Park. The collaboration of the city of Kobe shining in the darkness of the night and the rich variety of fireworks is a unique beauty. This is a popular event that attracts nearly 300,000 people every year.
Port Island
Port Island is a vast man-made island floating in the sea of Kobe. The island is a hub of trade, and is home to a variety of universities, medical and research facilities, and is full of activity. The port liner runs through the island and connects to Kobe Airport off the coast.
