Darial Gorge
The Darial Gorge is located on the border between Georgia and Russia. For about 13 km, the landscape of steep mountains carved by the Terek River continues. The Georgian Military Road runs along the Terek, and the area can be visited by cab or rental car from Stepantsminda, the center of Kazbegi. Visitors can enjoy hiking to experience the magnificent nature firsthand while visiting the waterfalls, lakes, and small villages that adorn the valley.
Kazbegi
Bordering Russia, Kazbegi is a region embraced by the 5,033-meter-high Mount Kazbek and other mountains of the Greater Caucasus. In summer, it becomes a beautiful green paradise covered with wildflowers, and many people visit the area for climbing and hiking. The town of Stepanzminda, which serves as a base for sightseeing, is lined with hotels that offer spectacular views of the mountains all to themselves, making it a popular destination for active people who love nature.
